Lawtell here, your very own art guide. On this page is a painting of French Angelfish. First thing I want to know is what, exactly, makes them French? They don’t look French to me. Do they speak French? Are they saying to each other in some secret fish language “Ça va?” “Pas mal, et toi?” Are they beginning the Beguine? Is the odd fish out looking for a dance partner? These three were residents of the Curaçao Seaquarium where my human sat for many hours to capture their charms in oils.
I’ll admit that they’re beautiful. And so are their very Caribbean surroundings. They make me feel like I’m underwater myself and they’re just going to swim (or dance) by. But I think the best fish are the ones served broiled and boneless. Which reminds me, I’m hungry! Roll over to see me in my new chapeau paying tribute to the French Navy. Of course yo no soy marinero, soy capitan. Oops! That's not French. Allons enfants, let's dance! Baile Bamba... I’m one multicultural cat.
