Lawtell here, with a painting of a new denizen of the deep. This colorful painting of an exotic Malaysian clam makes me think of sooo many different things. If you roll over the image above, you can see me with some of them. The clam’s ruffles have ridges, well maybe stripes more than ridges. They remind me of ribbon candy, with all its delicious colors. My blue ribbon echoes the stripe bordering the clam. I also think it resembles an Elizabethan ruff or the gently rippling folds of an elegant silk scarf. The volcano peak in the middle of the clam makes a fantastic funnel. And, of course, wearing a funnel on my fuzzy head makes me think of the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz. If I only had a...
Malaysian giant clams are a long way from those little gray Atlantic critters that are so good to eat. They can grow up to 3 feet across and weigh 100 pounds. That’s bigger than me! And they come in mind-boggling colors. Beside me, in the image above, is a little picture of my predecessor, the illustrious Dashi Pushi, snorkeling next to a giant clam.
